Say hello

Traditional Foundations with a Modern Practical Approach.

Functional Karate is at the heart of our teachings.  We reward hard work and effort, not shape making!  Enjoyable kids karate lessons that you know will teach respect and discipline in a form that hopefully enables students to use effectively what they learn.  Adult karate classes offer the same benefits, but are focused on continually trying to perform better than you did yesterday!
We teach to a very high standard to pass on vital life skills, not to increase our bank balance.

Self defense is the action of protecting yourself or others using reasonable force.

Benefits of Shotokan Training

Builds Self Confidence

We will push you hard but the rewards are that you'll achieve far more than you ever thought possible. Children and adults can benefit from becoming more self aware and confident.

Teaches Principles of Respect and Discipline

Respect and Discipline are words not commonly practised in today's current world.  At Pagham Karate Club these words are the foundation of everything we teach and do.

Improves Focus and Stillness

Effective Karate is the training of the body and the mind to work together in harmony.  To get mind and body to work together, breathing correctly is the key.  Dynamic techniques can only work if body and intent are working in harmony.
              No Breath, to life!

Self Defense

A bi product of diligent hard training over many years is an awareness of self defense principles and techniques.  This can be an invaluable skill in today's society!
